2006 CMX National

2006 CMX National

2006 marked the 5th year CMX Racing has held their Amateur National Championship at Motopark over the August Holiday weekend. It was the first year they ran 4 moto’s for the 21 Championship classes over 3 days and Senior Official Paul Kingsley put on a clinic in programming giving every class long moto’s and finishing each day ahead of schedule.

The facility at Motopark made the 3 days of racing and camping a treat for those used to the rigours of doing so at most facilities. The food, as usual, was outstanding. Motopark is starting to get quite the reputation for those Cowboy Steaks and more than 50 dozen Motomuffins where consumed over the 3 days.

Live bands contributed to the festivities both Saturday and Sunday night. Park security recorded no evictions or incidents to speak of overnight. Jay kept everyone in gear and accessories and Tim put in long hours in the pro shop working on bikes getting them ready for the next days racing. Loretta’s beautiful Arabians entertained many of the families in attendance as much as the racing.

The weather was outstanding all weekend, great for all of those participating but particularly hard on the parks watering systems and staff. They both performed admirably with many comments on how hard the staff worked at keeping the dust to a minimum. Gord groomed up the track after each day of racing making the next day a treat for the riders. Their still picking up garbage, bin after bin of garbage.

Nick designed a number of new sections and obstacles for the weekend with multiple passing areas. The work they put in can be shown by the lack of serious injuries all weekend. One ambulance call for PJ who crashed trying the #2 triple with only one lap and three races to go on the last day, you could hear the moans from park management. Reports are he’ll be fine but a little more respectful of our big one.

Oh Yeah, the Racing—here are some pics—many tight battles in a number of classes and I’m sure the competitors all have lots of stories of each of their moto’s. Full results at www.cmxracing.ca All in all a great weekend. The staff at Motopark would like to thank all who attended and we hope to see everyone back for the 6th annual CMX Racing Amateur National August 4, 5 & 6, 2007.

Performance Food Guidelines
So your a Motocrosser looking to get yourself around good eating habits. To become the best rider you can be, or to be a Champion. To be a top athlete in any sport takes a good knowledge of foods, training and practice drills. It takes serious dedication and even life changes to get on the right track. The harsh reality is that in each class there can only be one champion. Generally that is the person who is practicing & training the hardest and eating right. Especially in the higher classes.

How to Practice Motocross
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT—Heard that before? Some of those old sayings have a lot of truth in them. You have to go a little further in the case of Motocross and many other sports because it’s not only how often you practice, but how you practice, that makes perfect.

MOTOCROSS PSYCHOLOGY
“AS I THINK, I AM”—Profound words, and very true. A prime example of how this saying applies to motocrossers, is a riders tendency to “place himself”, while still on the starting line. Those of you who have raced for a number of yearswill all have done this. Your sitting, looking down the starting line wondering how you will do. You see Fred and you know you can’t beat him, then there’s Harry and that guys a sandbagger, should be up a class for sure.

Motocross Training
When you hear Motocross referred to as one of the most physically demanding sports in the World, they are referring to the professional level. The sport is very physically demanding at any level, but the faster a rider goes and the longer the race, the more demanding the sport is physically.
